America, but what is of more importance

and of better financial prospects is a service covering

Shanghai, Singapore, Manila, Bangkok and possibly a

station in French Indo China, these services would I consider

definitely pay, especially Shanghai, but I find when discuss-

ing technicalities that only Singapore is under considera-

tion, observing that Hong Kong has already been approached

by Japan, Shanghai, Manila, Java and Bangkok can these

stations be utterly ignored in the proposed scheme?

they are, traffic will again as in the case of telegraphy,

be directed to Canton, and the inhabitants of Hong Kong

will have to call through the Canton Station or not at

all, which from traders point of view is definitely bad,

and will be resented.
